Search for male to female makeup prices and you mostly get silence. Very few studios publish rates, which leaves people guessing at whether a quote is fair. This guide gives real numbers and, more usefully, explains what sits behind them.
The Short Answer
In the metros, expect roughly INR 3,500 to INR 6,000 for makeup alone, INR 8,000 to INR 15,000 for a makeover with wig and outfit, and INR 15,000 to INR 30,000 for a full bridal transformation. Smaller cities generally run twenty to thirty percent lower. Anything far below those ranges usually means makeup alone with everything else charged as an extra.
What Actually Moves the Price
Session length
This is the biggest factor by a distance. A two hour makeup session and a six hour bridal transformation involve genuinely different amounts of work. When you compare two quotes, compare the hours before you compare the numbers.
Whether the wardrobe is included
A studio that provides wigs, sarees, gowns and jewellery has serious money tied up in that collection, and its rates reflect it. A studio that expects you to bring everything will quote lower and cost you more overall, unless you already own what you need.
Application method
Standard foundation, HD and airbrush are three different price points. For a two hour evening you do not need airbrush. For a full day event, a shoot or a Delhi summer afternoon, it is worth the difference and will save you a ruined base by hour four.
Location
Home, hotel and venue appointments cost more than studio sessions, because travel takes time and the entire kit has to move. A travel charge of INR 1,500 to INR 3,000 within a metro is normal and should always be quoted upfront.

Is the Cheapest Option Ever the Right One
Occasionally, yes. If you already own a wig and an outfit, know what look you want and just need skilled makeup, a straightforward makeup booking is the sensible choice and there is no reason to pay for more. Somebody who talks you out of the larger package when you do not need it is worth keeping.
Where cheap goes wrong is on a first transformation, where the wardrobe, the fitting and the time to get it right are the whole point. Saving four thousand rupees on the session that was supposed to be the one you remember is a poor trade.
How to Compare Two Quotes Properly
- Ask how many hours the appointment is scheduled for.
- Ask exactly what is included, item by item, and get it in writing.
- Ask whether wig, outfit and jewellery are provided or charged separately.
- Ask which application method is being used and why.
- Ask what the travel charge is, if any, and what the total comes to.
Five questions, two minutes, and you will know which quote is genuinely lower. Very often it is not the one with the smaller headline number.
